• About the procedure

Understanding
cosmetic dentistry.

Cosmetic care starts with the changes you want to make and the features you want to keep. Whitening, composite bonding, porcelain veneers and orthodontic treatment address different concerns. Tooth and gum health, function and maintenance guide the conversation before an appearance-focused plan is chosen.

• Your options

Your smile.
Your own direction.

Color, shape, chips and spacing may be addressed in different ways. We balance the changes you would like to see with tooth health, function and the care each option will need.

(01)

Teeth whitening

Professional whitening may help with selected types of tooth discoloration. We assess the cause of the shade change, discuss sensitivity and explain what whitening can and cannot change—including the color of existing restorations.

Porcelain veneers

Veneers can change the visible surface of selected teeth. Your consultation covers suitability, shape and shade, tooth preparation, alternatives and long-term maintenance. The aim is a considered plan, not the same smile for everyone.

Cosmetic bonding

Tooth-colored resin can be used to make selected changes to a tooth’s shape or appearance. Dr. Ho can discuss whether bonding is appropriate for a small chip, gap or contour concern, and how its maintenance compares with other options.

Personalized smile planning

Sometimes one change is enough; sometimes several treatments are considered together. We start with your goals and oral health, then explain suitable options, sequencing, preparation, limitations and expected costs before you decide.

• Planning & aftercare

The details
that matter.

Small changes can be considered

Not every cosmetic concern needs veneers or extensive treatment. Cleaning, whitening, bonding or monitoring may be part of the discussion.

Plan the whole picture

Existing restorations, grinding and alignment can influence the order and suitability of treatment. Avoid judging options from photographs alone.

This page is general patient information, not a diagnosis or an individual treatment plan. Ask the practice about instructions specific to your care.

• Making a decision

Compare your options.
Plan your next step.

Use these questions when discussing cosmetic dentistry with Dr. Ho. Your examination and priorities guide your individual plan.

Options to discuss

Start with the change you want to make: color, shape, spacing or a combination. Whitening, bonding, veneers and orthodontic approaches address different concerns. Comparing preparation and maintenance helps turn an appearance goal into an informed choice.

Visits and timing

Oral health comes first, then the order of cosmetic work is planned. Whitening may affect shade decisions for later restorations, while alignment changes involve a different sequence. Ask which stages can be combined and which need separate review.

What shapes the estimate

Ask for an itemized plan that identifies each proposed treatment, the teeth involved and future maintenance considerations. Elective appearance changes may not have the same insurance benefits as care for disease or damage; confirm your individual policy.

• Questions

Questions about
cosmetic dentistry.

Which cosmetic treatment is right for me?

The concern, your oral health and the size of the intended change determine the options. A consultation is the starting point, not a commitment to a particular procedure.

Will whitening change a crown or veneer?

No. Restorations do not bleach like natural teeth, so shade and treatment order should be discussed before beginning.

Do cosmetic treatments need maintenance?

Yes. Materials can stain, chip, wear or need replacement. Ask what upkeep each proposed option is likely to involve.
